lady bonnet

November 21, 2009

Back in August, I went to the yarn store with a friend so she could pick out some yarn for a hat and mittens. I finished them a while ago, but it took us several weeks to organize our schedules with the sun in order take a photo shoot.

She wanted a bonnet, so I modified Elizabeth Zimmermann’s bonnet from The Opinionated Knitter. Fortunately my modifications worked out perfectly on the first try. I added some i-cord ties and it was good to go.

She approves. The yarn is Rowan Felted Tweed, and it took less than a skein, though this bonnet isn’t going to take her into the winter. It’s a mid-season bonnet.

Tomorrow, the mittens!

I love the way it covers the nape of the neck to chase away the drafts…
